The week your kids will measure summers by.
Seven days at the base of Mt. Chirripó, fully programmed for both parents and children. One reservation covers everything; the tent, every meal, every activity, every guide.
You plan nothing. You pay once. You show up as a family.
A Kinkára family week is deliberately small, and it happens inside a living community: The children of RISE families will join the program alongside yours. Your children spend mornings with a full program team and a valley to explore, while you spend them with complete freedom, which some summers means a ridge trail on horseback and some summers means a second coffee and a book before a sauna session.
Every afternoon and every dinner, the whole camp comes back together at the long tables. By Wednesday your kids have a crew. By Saturday you know every family by name.

Arrival & Hearth Gathering
Check-in to Lotus Belle canvas tents, property orientation, and the weekly sign-up board where families choose their rides, hikes, and workshops. Evening brings our opening welcome feast at the Casa Bulú long tables, the first lighting of the fire circle, and children meeting their group leaders before dessert.
Valley Exploration & Mandala Gardens
The property opens up with morning orientation on horseback and on foot. Children plant seeds and explore the permaculture farm, while parents enjoy morning yoga overlooking the Chirripó deck. Afternoon brings sourdough hearth baking, river trail orientation, and family lawn games before dinner.
Waterfall Swims & Riverbank Lunch
The entire camp moves to the river. Families enjoy natural boulder pools, swimming holes, and waterfall jumps adapted to every age and nerve. Lunch is cooked directly on the riverbank, followed by leaf-boat races in the stream and peaceful riverside herbal tea for parents.
Harvest & Bean-to-Bar Chocolate
Harvest morning across the organic farm gathering fresh produce for the kitchen. Children craft chocolate from raw cacao beans and sculpt natural clay, while parents unwind in the wood-fired cedar sauna and cold-spring plunge. The day culminates in a vibrant farm-to-table dinner featuring the morning harvest.
Mountain Excursion & Canopy Trails
The signature mountain excursion into the Chirripó valley. Age-tailored adventures range from canopy platforms and waterfall cascades to cloud-forest ridgeline hikes. Wilderness skills and botanical sketching round out the afternoon, leading to an evening wine pairing dinner for adults.
Wood-Fire Feast & Fire Circle
An unhurried day reserved for rest, swimming, and junior sabanero horse grooming. As dusk arrives, chefs host a traditional wood-fire asado with fresh highland harvests, followed by live acoustic mountain music, storytelling around the grand fire circle, and dancing under the stars.
Lantern Farewell & Celebration
A dawn sunrise river dip followed by closing reflections and a farewell farm breakfast. After dark, handmade lanterns crafted by the children throughout the week illuminate the mandala gardens, accompanied by heartfelt speeches, family memories, and arranged transfers for Sunday departures.

3-Tier Age Curriculum
Developmentally tailored wilderness immersion led by expert naturalists and wilderness educators.
Colibríes go on short adventures with long naps — the shallow river beach, meeting the baby animals, or painting on everything.
Monos swim in waterfalls, take their first canters on horseback, make chocolate from the bean, and follow a week-long treasure hunt across the property.
Pumas get real independence — the bigger jumps, the longer rides, a night hike, and enough freedom that they forget to check their phones. There is no Wi-Fi at the river.
A vacation inside the vacation.
While the kids are in program, the property is yours. Horses saddled, trails marked, the spa tent open, the coffee ready. No activity requires signing up the night before and nothing costs extra, so the only decision each morning is what kind of morning you want.
